It’s officially spring

… the air has a green yellow cast

… sounds of lawn mowers provide an afternoon’s concert

… DH and I made our annual trek for barbecue.

Oh we eat barbecue as often as my husband can find it and likes it  But the BEST barbecue involves a road trip.  To please DH, we just need to drive an hour or so south.  We have to get below Atlanta and into the beautiful rural areas in middle GA.

But to please me, it takes a road trip to SC – if we were to go to my barbecue place of choice, it would be 4 hours one way!  Needless to say, we don’t get my kind of barbecue very often.

But now, with a belly full of southern haute cuisine (I’m being really facetious here), my thoughts are turning to other spring time delights – English Peas, Asparagus, baby lettuces, strawberries.  And I have to admit – thinking of these foods makes me smile much more than thinking of barbecue does!

I’ve just sent this recipe to my husband hoping he’ll make it – or something like it – very soon:
