One good thing came from being ill: I started reading again. Novels. I finished Walker Percy’s Lancelot and am completely scratching my head about the essay I wrote about that novel while in college. One thing I’ve learned about Percy – there’s something new in each reading of his books.
And moving from a dark philosophical work to complete fluff – I read Nora Roberts Hot Ice this weekend.
And that inspired me to get off my duff and renew my library card so I can read fluff books on my iPad by checking them out of the library instead of spending money on then. Don’t get me wrong – I’ll buy a book in a heartbeat and feel authors DO deserve their royalties. But I do have a problem with shelling out $7 for romance novels.
And I’ve now got 2 books loaded and waiting for me on my iPad. More on those later. I’m just glad to be reading again.
